Window Hummingbird Feeders
A key tip for attracting hummingbirds is "the more feeders, the more birds." For an average yard, 7 to 10 feeders spaced apart will work best. This keeps the dominant hummingbird from ruling the roost. Hummingbirds will feed more during their southward migration than northern migration, this is due to breeding season. Consistant feeding year after year will attract generations of hummingbirds. The key to attracting hummingbirds to a new feeder is have them up when hummingbirds first arrive. April and May are good target dates. The key to keeping hummingbirds? The cardinal rule: KEEP THE HUMMINGBIRD FEEDER CLEAN AND THE NECTAR FRESH! IF A HUMMINGBIRD GETS A TASTE OF FERMENTED NECTAR FROM YOUR FEEDER, IT WILL LOOK ELSEWHERE FOR A DRINK AND REMAIN SUSPICIOUS OF THE OFFENDING FEEDER FOR A PERIOD OF TIME.
