Purple Martin Dawnsong CD
This 60-minute CD is used to attract purple martins. Dawnsong consists of the uniques vocalizations emitted by adult males. They emit a loud series of chirps will flying near their colony during the pre-dawn hours. The vocalizations will serve to attract subadult to the single male's colony. The sounds can be heard over 30 square miles.
Attracting new members to the colony ensures that the single adult male will be able to leave more offspring behind after the breeding season. To use the CD, place your CD player outside with the speakers directed skyward and in the vicinity of your purple martin house. Play the CD loudly during the early morning hours. Play the CD during the hours of 4:00 and 6:00. The more consecutive days the CD is played, the greater the chance of attractine martins. There is no human narration or vocals on the CD.
Purple Martin Decoy
Why buy a purple martin decoy? So you can enhance your chances of attracting purple martins to you house or gourds. Purple martins are a social bird and by attaching decoys to your house or perching rod, you will give the illusion that a colony is established there. Moving the decoys occasionally will also indicate "action."
