Made of 3/4" thick Western Red Cedar for proper insulation. 3/4" thickness is one of the most important features of a bluebird house. Both sides open, one to reveal a Plexiglas partition to allow for safe observation of the nest and the other for clean-out. A copper insert predator guard protects the entrance hole and a generous-sized roof offers more protection from the elements. The inside of the bluebird house is grooved for helping the fledgelings leave the nest. Brass hinges and zinc chromate screws. The Cedar Sloped Roof Bluebird House with portal cover features our outdoor high-grade vinyl film graphics and photos. The portal cover helps protect the entrance hole from being excavated to a larger size. Made of 3/4" Cedar, with corrosion resistant hardware, the bird houses are made with the finest American Craftsmanship. These houses have great ventilation, drainage and proper dimensions. The Bluebird house has two pre-drilled holes for mounting on a post or fence. The floor of the house is 4" X 4" and will also accommodate a mounting plate underneath. Entrance hole is 1 1/2". All design panels have grooved lines on the inside for the young to climb out of the nest. You may change out this panel by simply using the bottom turn button and sliding out the panel. The slotted bird house helps deters pesky sparrows. Sparrows prefer a round entrance hole versus the slot. The slot also serves as large enough escape route, versus the round hole entrance, if our native birds are attacked by the non-native house sparrow, The distance from the opening to the bottom of the floor is also a deterent. A 5" length from floor to opening will be used by bluebirds and wrens but sparrows prefer a deeper box. The front panel of the bird house slides out and enables you to keep your front off until sparrows are done selecting sites which is in February and March. April 1st is the time recommended to put your front on if you have a sparrow problem. Taking your front off is recommeded in fall and winter if sparrows are using it for roosting. A beveled roof with an added saw rain drip line underneath keeps the box dry. The roof has added overhang in front to also help keep box dry. 4 x 4 floor, drainage, ventialtion, bottom turn button to secure front, inside pre-drilled mounting holes, D-Ring on back for mounting ( may also be pole mounted underneath) and grooved inside panels to help young leave the nest are included. The Cannonball Gourd Bird House is a perfect year-round shelter for backyard birds. Grown on a Florida farm, we hand-cleaned each gourd inside and out. We then seal each gourd with an outdoor wood stain and then finish the exterior with a spar urethane coating to protect it from rain, snow, and temperature changes.

The interior is left natural. Eye-hook is attached for use with the hanger of your choosing (hanger not included.)

The 1 ¼’ hole dimension will attract Wrens, Chickadees, Nuthatches and Titmice.

This product is Florida-grown and hand-finished in Punta Gorda.
