The metal perches and base deliver a mild jolt that will discourage pesky animals from trying to feed. The shock is not strong enough to harm the animal. The 8-Port feeder has a 10 lb. seed capacity and 8 feeding stations. A battery charge indicator lets you know when it is time to replace the battery. It comes with hanging aparatus, but it may also be pole mounted (Pole Mount Adapter sold separately.)
